Meet Mike Steen
25+ Years of Real-World Kitchen Remodeling Experience
I’m Mike Steen, founder of Steen’s Kitchen Academy.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked in the cabinet and kitchen remodeling business — measuring jobs, selling projects, working with homeowners, solving problems in the field, and building a business around doing quality work.
I didn’t learn this business from a textbook.
I learned it by doing it.
I’ve made mistakes, figured out what works, developed systems, and learned how to take a kitchen from the initial customer conversation all the way through a completed project.
That real-world experience is what I’m bringing to Steen’s Kitchen Academy.
From Firefighter to Business Owner
Before building my kitchen remodeling business, I spent 23 years as a firefighter.
That career taught me lessons that carried directly into business:
Have a system. Know your job. Stay calm when something goes wrong. And finish what you start.
Those principles have stayed with me throughout my career.
Cabinet refacing isn’t complicated when you understand the process. The problem is that most people trying to get started don’t have somebody standing beside them when the real-world questions begin.
That’s where I want this Academy to be different.
Why I Started Steen’s Kitchen Academy
After more than 25 years in this industry, I’ve accumulated something that took a long time to build:
experience.
I know how to look at a kitchen and determine what needs to happen.
I know how to measure it.
I know how to price it.
I know the materials, tools and order of work.
I know how to deal with customers.
And I know what can go wrong — because over 25+ years, I’ve seen plenty of it.
Rather than letting that knowledge disappear when I eventually stop doing kitchens myself, I decided to teach it.
That’s why I created Steen’s Kitchen Academy.
This Is More Than an Online Course
I’m not interested in selling you a collection of videos and wishing you luck.
The training videos are important, but they’re only part of what I’m offering.
When you’re learning this business and you hit something you don’t understand, I want you to have somebody to call.
When you’re looking at a job and aren’t sure how to approach it, I can help you think it through.
When you’re preparing an estimate and questioning your numbers, we can talk about it.
And when possible, you’ll have opportunities to come to Florida and work alongside me on real kitchens so you can see how the process works from beginning to end.
That’s the kind of training I wish more people had when they started.
The Founding Five
I’m launching Steen’s Kitchen Academy with just five founding students.
Those first five will receive a level of direct access to me that I don’t expect to offer forever.
They’re also going to help shape what this Academy becomes.
I can’t guarantee that anyone who joins Steen’s Kitchen Academy will build a successful business. Your results will depend on your effort, your market, your decisions and what you do with what you’re taught.
But I can promise that I’ll be fully invested in helping my Founding Five succeed.
And no matter where Steen’s Kitchen Academy goes from here, those first five students will always be the originals who helped start it.
If You’re Serious, Let’s Talk
You don’t need decades of experience to get started.
You don’t need a huge shop.
And you don’t need a large crew.
But you do need to be willing to learn, work, deal honestly with customers and follow a proven process.
If that sounds like you, take the next step.
